I don't know if this quote from a book by Dawna Markova counts as poetry or not, but it touches my heart and inspires my soul in just the same way. Every word of this reflection speaks to my hope, commitment, and desire.
"I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
To live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit."
-- Dawna Markova, PhD, Writer, Speaker
I like the orange flower/fruit picture. In Spanish we call it "azahar", using the Arabic word for "flower". It smells so fresh and alive! Inhabiting your day smells of that.
Beautiful! Courage is required for such "inhabiting"! And it is totally worth it!
